GFSN National League 2004/05
Brighton Bandits v London Leftfooters
30th January 2005, Preston Park
A record turnout for our away trip to the South Coast, with at total
of 27 players and supporters.
Let's face it, everything was against us. The train down to Brighton
on the Saturday night was half an hour late making us miss Pete's brother
on the TV, we had to wait 45 minutes for our table at the restaurant,
and the referee ... well, it's difficult to find nice words about his
performance.
To be fair, Brighton were the better team, although they didn't deserve
to win by 5-1, the final score. They implemented a actically astute
game plan, with their manager bringing bottles of vodka and bacardi
to the Amsterdam hotel the night before and forcing us to drink until
5am on Sunday morning.
However, we do maintain our unbeaten record of out-partying the other
team the night before a game. This, of course, is the only guaranteed
route to European competition next year.
Best supporter award must go to Liv, for shouting out "Get the
ball off that fat f**ker!" at the top of her voice.
The scorer for Leftfooters was Morten, a well worked goal, and we were
close to scoring a couple more times in the last few minutes. Although
many of us were a little, ahem, off-form, Richy in particular had a
very good game.
Cheers
