GFSN National League - Footers Vs Titans
April 26th, 2009
Lost 0-4

We returned to wormwood scrubs buoyed by a great performance a week earlier against Brighton, so spirits were high as Chris warmed us up before kick off, the pitch would be described as Wembly like quality and we lined up in a 4-3-2-1 formation.

The game had barely started when they wiped in across to the back post and some how their biggest player had managed to sneak in unnoticed to head unchallenged into the back of the net, not the best of starts, for the next 15 minutes Titans had a lot of the ball in our half but the midfield of Dave, Andy, Pete and Dan were coping well and when they did get through Craig, Chris and Oli moped up. We began to get some procession of our own down the left with Chris and Dave fighting hard to hold the ball up and allow us to bring Scott into the game who was battling up front.

From my own point of view not much happened down the right until they broke through, however we were never in any danger as Warren was there.

As the first half developed we were moving the ball well with Oli delivering some good balls to Andy who got round the back a few times and hit one well on the volley.

We seemed to be in no real danger when they got a corner and once again got in unchallenged at the back post.

So at half time it was 0-2, although Titans had created very little and it had been a very even first 45.
The same formation was kept for the second half where James, Steve and Richard lined up for the second half. We began quickly with the new players making an immediate impact with their pace down the right. We were also joined by 2 nuns who brought with them their blessings and 2 large glasses of red, in Pete and Theo, it very almost was devine intervention when Oli got a free kick inside his own half and cracked a shot which smashed the right hand side of the cross bar, to say it was the best shot I've seen this season would not do it justice, but for the next 10 minutes after this we caused them nothing but problems. First James broke through their central defenders and with just the goalkeeper to beat slotted just wide, then Dan did the same but his last touch was just a little 2 heavy and it ran through to the goalkeeper.

With Richard running down the right with support from Andy we won a corner which he then curled in which crashed off the crossbar, shortly after this Ledley I mean Andy came off injured.

Titans recovered from this early pressure to force Gary in to some good saves , especially one which moved in the air forcing him to change direction, it was almost Reina like [that's for you Gary].

Their 3rd came when they broke down the right and crossed the ball, it broke to one of their players who slotted in. Craig had been moved into midfield and was offering support to the attack along with Dave who when charging forward was sent flying, but the foul was waved away, we causing them problems evey time we went forward. Unfortunately I cant tell you how the fourth goal came as I was distracted by Warren and Andy who were telling me I either had cancer of the hand or it may just be a strain, either way I think they wanted to cut it off.

The game finished 0-4 which once again was harsh as we had been more than a match for them, however there was one result that went out way, Pete's bet came in and it was drinks all round.
This was our last game of the season, so I just wanted to say a few thank yous, first to Oli and Dave for managing the home and away games and to Pete for organising the travel, to Dave for stealing Craig's goal so I don't have to hear him going on about being top scorer. To Doc for offering me money on my first away trip after I had brought a guy back to the hotel, to which the poor lad replied I'm not a prostitute, and also to Doc for leading the North to a crushing Victory over the south, who still haven't returned Oli's iPhone, this was my first season with the Leftfooters and I have enjoyed it greatly.

Have a great week

Ant

I have forgotten one person, Antonio for being man of match in every game this season.
